Published by Clouds & Cactus LLC. Prices read October 10, 2026. How we did it

We read the General Price Lists that Puget Sound funeral homes post on their own websites. For the same service, cremation with no viewing or ceremony, the highest price was 3.8 times the lowest. 17 of 20 homes priced it below the $2,645 national median.

How we did it

Washington has no law requiring funeral homes to post prices online. Every price here comes from a home that chose to post its General Price List. We checked 44 Puget Sound funeral home websites on October 10, 2026 and read 24 price lists.

The price shown is the lowest direct cremation line on each list, usually with a container the family provides. We published a home only when that line was clear and comparable. We held back:

  • Price not comparable or unclear3
  • Address or location could not be verified1
  • No usable list for another reason8
  • Website blocked automated access8
  • No price list on the website4

A price that excludes the cremation fee or the transfer from the place of death is not comparable with one that includes them, so those homes are not in the ranking. Prices change; each home’s page links to the list we read. The national median is from the NFDA 2023 General Price List Study.
