How a price gets on this site

We show a funeral home’s price only when that home has published its own General Price List, and we show the date of that list and a link to where it was posted. If a home has not posted its list, we say so. The home’s current General Price List is the price that counts, not ours.

Today, 94 funeral homes on this site have a price from a published list. Every funeral home page says “Price not on file” until one exists.

Where the figures come from

• National price medians. The NFDA 2023 General Price List Study, published in the NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report. Direct cremation is $2,750 with the funeral home’s container. These are national medians, not a local quote.
• State cremation rates. The 2025 projections for all 51 jurisdictions (50 states and D.C.) in the NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report. That table’s national figure is 63.3%. The NFDA 2025 report’s national headline, 63.4%, is labelled separately wherever it appears.
• Crematory counts. NFDA’s 2023 count for each state, from the same 2024 report. We show the count; we do not have a list of the crematories themselves.
• Connecticut funeral homes. 282 active funeral establishments from the Connecticut Department of Public Health list (as of September 29, 2026): names and addresses; the list has no phone numbers. That list has no prices.
• Nevada funeral homes. 67 active funeral establishments from the Nevada Funeral and Cemetery Services Board list (as of December 3, 2024): names, addresses, and phones. That list has no prices.
• New York funeral homes. 1,529 active funeral establishments from the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Funeral Directing list (fetched September 29, 2026): names, addresses, and phones. That list has no prices.

We do not estimate local prices, and we do not average prices from other websites. NFDA puts the number of US funeral homes at about 15,401. Licensed funeral homes are listed for Connecticut, Nevada, and New York only, and this site has no state’s full list of crematories. Prices are not on these lists.

Paid placement

If a funeral home ever pays for placement here, that placement will be labelled as paid. It will never change the price we show, which always comes from the home’s own General Price List.

If a figure, an address, or a phone number is wrong, write to contact@crematories.net. Funeral homes can send the link to their current General Price List the same way.
